All children at Westwood Academy have access to Purple Mash. Your child’s teacher will set work on here. Check the alert button on your child’s home page for work that has been set. Otherwise, there are 1000s of fun resources for your child to explore on here, for all curriculum areas.
All children now have access to MyOn which is an online library, containing thousands of books, quizzes and book reviews. Children should have their logins for this in their yellow reading records.

Letters and Sounds
The Department for Education have released some great, easy to follow phonics lessons that will support the teaching of phonics at home. They are a fun way to learn and revisit different sound families.
Mr Thorne and Geraldine the Giraffe
The children love watching Geraldine the Giraffe and Mr Thorne’s Phonics. You can use the ‘YouTube Kids’ app to make sure your children aren’t exposed to inappropriate advertisements.

Teach Your Monster to Read
A fabulous Phonics game! Children can progress through levels suited to their Phonics Phase. Free to use on a laptop or computer, but apps also available for iPhone, iPad, Android and Kindle tablets.
