🚀 Year 5’s Mission to Mars! 🔬#BeAnAdventurer

Year 5 had an exciting trip to The Oldham Academy North to take part in the Big Bang Science Workshop, where we spent the day thinking and working like real scientists!
To begin, we recapped our learning about Earth and space, discussing what makes our planet suitable for life. We then took on a very exciting challenge — could humans live on Mars? As a class, we discussed what people would need to survive on the red planet, such as air, water, food and shelter.
The children then became space engineers, designing their own houses that could keep astronauts safe while living on Mars. After that, we carried out a scientific investigation, testing eight different soil types to see whether crops could grow on Mars. Our results suggested that it might actually be possible to grow food there!
To finish our mission, we sent our findings to NASA and were thrilled to receive our tickets to Mars for our discovery. The children absolutely loved the experience and did a fantastic job working scientifically, asking questions and thinking like real researchers.
It was a brilliant day and the children really enjoyed being scientists for the day! 🌍🚀 #BeAnAdventurer
