Welcome to Year 4
Hello parents and carers!
We’ve had an amazing start to Year 4!
Our History topic of Ancient Greece had a brilliant launch with a Greek afternoon. We made laurel leaf headbands, decorated our own Greek pots, wrote our names in Greek, researched the Olympian gods and tasted some Greek food!
Our English learning, linked to our topic has centred around the myth of Perseus and Medusa. We’ve found it really interesting comparing versions of the myth to one another and are working up to writing our own setting description of Medusa’s lair!
Miss Cermak has also linked our music curriculum to Ancient Greece and we have been looking at music and beats that were common at the time, learning the different notes that can be played and been keeping beat using tambourines, cymbals and maracas.
Maths has been all about place value! We’ve been recognising and using number in preparation for more learning on the four operations later in the year.
In Science, we have begun a new topic on the states of matter. We have looked at the differences between solids liquids and gasses and look forward to learning more about all three!
