Viva Españia #BeAnAdventurer

Date: 27th Feb 2026 @ 12:54pm

This week, we have been excited to begin exploring our brand-new topics across the curriculum!

In English, we dived into a new text called Toro! Toro!, which is set in Spain. The children explored what a traditional Spanish corrida (bullfight) is like and discussed how it might feel to be part of the crowd watching the event. We thought carefully about atmosphere, emotions and viewpoints before using persuasive language to create eye-catching posters promoting a bullfight. The children worked incredibly hard to include powerful vocabulary and persuasive techniques in their writing.

In Geography, we launched our new topic ‘Viva Españia!’. We began by locating Spain on a world map and identifying where it sits within Europe. The children explored major Spanish cities as well as key physical features such as mountains and rivers. This has helped us build a strong foundation for our upcoming learning about Spanish culture, food and traditions.

It has been a fantastic start to our new topics, and we are looking forward to continuing our journey discovering all about Spain in the coming weeks!
