Rochdale Fireground 🚒

What an exciting week in Year 1!

This week, Year 1 took a trip on the tram to Rochdale to visit the Fireground fire station museum! We started the day learning about The Great Fire of London. Our helper, James, showed us some interesting tools that were used to try and stop the fire. 

Next, we had a go at using the brass squirter to suck up water and extinguish the burning buildings! After our lunch, we got chance to look at some different fire engines from the past and even got to sit in a modern fire engine! We worked as a team to pump the water in the Victorian water pump and had a look at the fire hoses in the tall tower!

We had a chance to dress up as firefighters and played in the fire engines!

In English, we wrote a recount of our trip. Miss Moore is super impressed with the wonderful writing we did!
