Our Local Area Walk!

This week, we went on our first trip of the year! (Hopefully, there will be many more to come!) The children were absolutely fantastic and showed a great interest in their local area. We used our I-Spy sheets to find features such as Oldham Mosque, Chadderton Town Hall and Asda. We even had time to play in our local park, Berries Field! Make sure to ask your child about what they saw.

This trip will help the children to develop their understanding of their local area. This will lead nicely into the term, where they will identify and describe key human and physical features, use simple maps and compass directions, recognise landmarks, and develop basic fieldwork skills by observing and recording the geography of their local area.
