Busy Week in Year 5
Date: 3rd Oct 2025 @ 4:12pm
This week has been full of exciting learning across all of our subjects!
We began the week stepping into the role of news reporters, writing breaking news reports about the shocking death of Romeo and Juliet. The children enjoyed taking on the role of journalists, even interviewing key eye witnesses to gather their facts before reporting the story.
In PE, we continued developing our gymnastics skills. Each week we have been working hard to build a routine, adding new steps, poses, balances and rolls. We are really beginning to show control, creativity and teamwork in their performances.
In science, we became investigators, exploring how water resistance works. We carried out a practical experiment to test how different shapes move through water and found out that some shapes move more quickly and smoothly than others.
In history, we travelled back to Tudor England to explore the impact of Henry VIII’s choices. We worked in groups to show how different people in society might have reacted to the news of the new Church of England and Henry’s marriage to Anne Boleyn – some were delighted, others not so much!
In art, we created Tudor-style self-portraits, thinking carefully about our faces and clothing to match the style of the time.
It’s been a busy but fantastic week of learning – well done, Year 5!
